Spice & Bonn Foods announce the winner of Ford Ikon of Spice Glucobon Mobile Tambola Contest

Ludhiana, April 6, 2005:
Spice Telecom, Punjab's premier cellular operator, and BONN, a leading food industry at a select gathering today announced the winner of the Spice Glucobonn Mobile Tambola contest,. The tambola numbers were aired on Zee News. The contest saw an overwhelming participation from all across the northern India. For the first time ever, the traditional game of Tambola had a blend of technology, wherein the subscribers played with the ticket, sent via SMS to them, with numbers broadcasted on ZEE TV, on specified days, a rare convergence of three technologies. Mr. Sudhir Bansal, who became the lucky owner of a brand new Ford IKON, won the bumper prize of the exciting contest. The mobile numbers of all full house winners were included in the lucky draw for the Bumper Prize where Mr. Bansal, an employee of New India Insurance, emerged as the winner. Along with the car, 200 other prizes were also won.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Navin Kaul, COO, Spice Telecom, Punjab, stated that "Spice Telecom was the first mobile service provider to launch Mobile Tambola, based on a simple insight that Tambola is a very popular game in this region and was popular amongst people for all walks of life. So in keeping with our credo of 'Spice Hai Toh Life Hai' we decided to launch Mobile Tambola, wherein we are committed to provide unlimited excitement and innovation to our subscribers"

The contest was aired on Zee News from December 31, 2004 to March 08, 2005, every Tuesday and Friday between 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets of the game were bought by sending a SMS to 6300 or dialing 6300. Alternatively, free tambola tickets to the game could also be purchased with select Bonn Foods. On the start of the game, the Tambola numbers were broadcasted live on Zee News and appeared in random order from 1 to 89. Each game had prizes for 2 early five, 2 top line, 2 middle line, 2 bottom line and 2 full house, which could be availed by sending an SMS to 6300.

The Tambola contest saw prizes worth Rs. 11 lakh won by participants, which included wristwatches, electric toasters, Grilled ovens, juicer mixer grinders, DVD and an Overall Bumper Prize of a Ford IKON car. There were 10 prizes to be won in every game.

Expressing his delight over winning the Ford IKON, Mr. Sudhir Bansal, 31, stated that "When I was informed that I was the lucky winner of Bumper prize of Ford Ikon car, I could not believe my luck. It appeared to me as if someone was playing a prank on me. It took some time for the news to sink in. The news brought immense happiness to me & my family. My friends too want to play the Spice Glucobon Mobile Tambola now"
