Chandigarh, April 21, 2006:
Spice Telecom Durga Das Foundation will bring to the residents of City Beautiful, the guru of Indian classical music Padma Vibhushan, Pandit Jasraj. The maestro will perform at the Tagore Theatre on Monday, April 24, at 7:00 p.m. The entry to the concert is by invitation only for the Spice Club Spirit Customers.

Commenting on forthcoming concert in the city, Mr.Mukul Khanna, Assistant Vice President, Spice Telecom, Punjab, stated that "Spice Telecom & The Durga Das Foundation , in the past , have teamed up on numerous occasions to bring quality performances in the city and promote art & culture in the region."

Giving one of his rare performances, Pandit Jasraj, is the doyen of Indian classical vocal tradition. Born into a family which has given to Indian music four generations of outstanding musicians, The Mewati maestro, Pandit Jasraj, had his initial grooming in music under his father. Endowed with a rich, soulful voice, Pandit Jasraj's vocals are characterized by a blend of austere and opulent elements, projecting traditional music and intense spiritual expressions.

The living legend credits his whole existence to the Almighty. Pandit Jasraj's biggest contribution to Indian music is his concept of a novel jugalbandi (duet), which finds inspiration from the ancient system of moorchanas, between male and female vocalists, each singing their different scales and ragas at the same time. Infact he has not only created over a hundred bandishes but has also traversed the uncharted path of singing Sanskrit verses in pure Hindustani classical style
